Houseplants Favorite Home

Upotic has designed features that will help you give your houseplant a longer, healthier life.

The dimensions of this planter are 7″ wide by 12″ high, which provides a capacity of about 1.5 gallons, making it a great fit for most houseplants! The elegant slope of the sidewalls hold the plant’s root ball in place when moving, transplanting, or dividing, and better yet, aids when bottom watering.

The most unique feature of Upotic is that it has NO BOTTOM! Instead, our engineered Cutting Edge turns easily into your garden, so that your plant can enjoy all the nutrients and benefits of soil and sun. When weather gets rough, simply turn Upotic out of the garden, with your plant baby protected inside, and take it inside! Overwintering has never been easier and even “annuals” can live for years.

The bottom cup fits snugly over the Cutting Edge. It gives the planter stability when the planter is not in-ground, but it also acts as a perfect water reservoir for bottom watering!

As you probably know, getting the watering and drainage right is the key to thriving plants. Overwatering is the most common mistake and easiest way to kill a plant. The roots sit in excess water and gradually rot, taking away the plants ability to absorb nutrients and moisture.

The risks of overwatering can be reduced with good drainage. The traditional indoor approach uses plant pots with drainage holes in the bottom that sit in a saucer to catch the excess water as it drains through the soil. This solution can mean that roots sit in excess water and drown.

Bottom watering means that you’re not watering your plants by letting water sink through the soil at the top of the pot, but by letting the soil soak up water through the bottom of the pot. This technique will also prevent leaf mold and fungus growth, which attracts pests.

With Upotic, you can place water in the bottom cup and your plant’s roots are situated well above. The soil itself will wick water up to the roots. They can drink when they are ready, without drowning!
